Home > Where We Go

God has given me an opportunity to go to the foreign mission field in three countries.  Mexico, Jamaica, and El Salvador.  I look forward to seeing His continued work and pray that I will continue to be a vessel for His work.

Mexico
The work in Mexico focuses on construction of private dwellings for needy families.  Many people for whom we construct houses have never lived in a home that has even the most basic creature comforts we have come to expect in the United States.

Trips to Mexico usually span four to six days and during this time we build two or three houses.  It takes a team of 20 to 30 hard working people to complete one of these projects and the cost of construction runs around $6,000.00.

We are currently partnered with Touch the World Ministries, Hopewell Baptist Church and Only a Servant Ministries of San Antonio, Texas for these projects. All of our work to date has been in Nava, Mexico which is near the town of Allende.

Jamaica
Most people think of the island of Jamaica as a collection of all inclusive resorts, beaches and vacation spots.   However,  Jamaica has a large population of truly unique people who are open to ministry and have unique needs.

The work we have been a part of in Jamaica is primarily evangelistic.  I had the privilege of being a part of Hopewell Baptist Church's praise team in July of 2003 where we went and partnered with Go Teach Ministries to conduct a week long revival.  I also had the opportunity to go out into some of the local communities to see how some of the Jamaican people were living.  Go Teach Ministries is currently trying to raise funds to build a self sustaining orphanage in Jamaica on some farm land that they have acquired.

There are pressing construction needs in Jamaica.  Some of the local congregations are meeting in buildings that are in desperate need of repair or in some cases replacement.  Please be in prayer for these needs.

El Salvador
El Salvador is located in Central America bordering the North Pacific Ocean, and between Guatemala and Honduras.  El Salvador’s name still evokes images of the brutal civil war fought throughout the 1980’s in its tangle of mountains and farmlands. The war, however is over and the most turbulent aspect of El Salvador today is thankfully just its volcanic landscape.  El Salvador offers a whole new experience – It’s a country that is striving to redefine itself.  International organizations are helping to rebuild El Salvador, and one of those organizations is Samaritan’s Purse.  We teamed up with Samaritan’s Purse for this project to build a home for a family, conduct a bible school, and a medical clinic.

Among plastic sheets and pieces of cloth lived Doña Teresa de Jesús Pérez, a 74 year old mother who adopted Reina Hernàndez, a young metally ill woman who was abandoned by her parents at an early age.

When fleeing from Cabañas during the civil war they ended up in Lourdes, where they obtained a borrowed piece of property and began building their shack made of plastic sheets for the roof, and pieces of cloth and wood. Reina is now 34 years old and is the mother of three children and is pregnant of her fourth child.  The father has never been responsible for the children.

Doña Teresa gives her life to seek work at the nearby communities to wash clothes and earn approximately $7.00 a week whenever she can to bring food to her family.  Most of the day her family will only eat tortillas, salt, water and egg whenever they are lucky.

It had almost been 20 years since they established in Lourdes and have never lifted a cement block with their hands.  Strangled by the extreme poverty in which they live, the dream of owning a home had faded more and more.

God blessed us with the opportunity to build this family a home.  In October of 2004 we sent a team of 15 from Hopewell Baptist Church. This team was split up into two groups.  One group conducted a Bible School at the same time the other group was working on the house.  The two groups came back together on Thursday of that week to conduct a Medical Clinic.

We finished the house on Friday morning and dedicated the house Friday evening.  The Bible School was a great success in being able to see 1,040 students and having 750 professions of faith.  We may never reap the harvest of these souls but the seeds have been planted and we thank God for that.  Our medical clinic was a great success as well we saw about 206 patients and through the evangelism room we witnessed 25 people coming to know the Lord as their personal Lord and Savior.  So not only were we able to minister to the community of Lourdes physically but most importantly spiritually.

All the praise, honor, and glory go to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, because if it were not for him this opportunity would not have been possible.

There is still needs in El Salvador.  Construction of one orphanage is needed in Lourdes for a group of orphans there.  Already God has identified a family that is in need of a home located in a Refugee Camp and Hopewell Baptist Church has already agreed to send a team back to build this home.

NEWS FROM EL SALVADOR!!!

We just returned from El Salvador in November with a team from Hopewell Baptist Church. We were able to partner with Samaritan's Purse once again to build the Perez Family a home in the Refugee Camp located in Lourdes.

We also held Bible School in several shelters for victims that had been displaced during the Hurricane in early October and from the Volcano eruption. The Bible School team was able to see about 565 children and adults during the week and were blessed to see 65 souls come to know Jesus as their personal Lord & Savior.

We held a medical clinic on the Thursday that we were in El Salvador. Through this clinic we saw about 185 families ministered to and we were excited to see 15 people saved and two individuals rededicated their lives to Christ.

Overall it was a wonderful week and it is always a blessing to be able to sholuder up alongside Samaritan's Purse. We certainly take no credit for the work that has been completed in El Salvador and give all the honor, praise, and glory to God!!
